The coolest thing happened to me today!
Jack's Mannequin played a secret show tonight within walking distance of my dorm. I found out about it and was so psyched because I am a pretty huge fan of anything/everything Andrew McMahon does. But then I found out it was a 21+ show, which made me SO mad because I'm obviously not 21 but am pretty sure that age shouldn't determine whether or not I'm even allowed to come in!

Anyway, today the weather was super super nice so I was walking around and I walked past the Blue Note... and I heard music. This was at like 4:30... the show isn't even until 9. But the closer I got, I realized that it was definitely Jack's Mannequin soundchecking... I could hear every song clearly from outside. So my friend and I chilled outside the venue like creepers for a while. We figured since we couldn't get in later, we might as well enjoy what we could from the outside. But then some guy walks by and my friend, who is crazy/not shy about ANYTHING stops him and says "Hey, we can't get into the show later because we're not 21... is there any way we can watch the sound check?"
At first he says "hold on, let me ask someone" and then changes his mind and says "nevermind, just follow me."
Sooooo we got to go in and watch the sound check! It was pretty fantastically awesome. Literally the only people in there were the band, the people who worked at the venue, and my friend and I.
It was so great too (possibly better than an actual show?) because there were no tall people blocking my view, nobody pushed me, nobody sweat on me etc.. Also, when they were done playing normal songs, I basically got to watch a jam session. It was awesomeee. The end.
