Society. Media. We're all fat. I think we should just deal with it. No one will ever live up to the standards placed upon us.
I'm finally getting to a point in my life where I'm become OKAY with the way I look. I'm not skinny, but I'm not a total fatty. That being said, I want to drop a few pounds. I always try to start diets but I always fail at them when it becomes that time of the month. I eat non stop when I have my period. I don't really seem to gain during that time, though, so its all good. I LOVE VEGGIES. I eat them all the time.

I get sick
hahaha but honestly that's what started it for me...like i got the flu...didnt eat for 4 days dropped 5 lbs and was like THIS IS TIGHT so i just started cutting WAY back on snacking like i dont diet persay like if i wnat a cheeseburger ill #*$$#!% eat one haha but then ill make sure i eat sensible the rest of the day i've been drinking a ton of water the last 2 days and i think im going to keep doing that then i puked a few days ago so my appetite hasnt been back and on top of that since i got over the flu i havent really felt like anything...like my mom is like WHAT DO YOU WANT and im like um? idk i dont feel like anything anymore but it helps haha I REALLY want to do like a 2 day fast to just detox and get rid of all the gross water weight but i want to make sure im doing a healthy one and not one of those ones that anorexic girls do...I really want to do it to benefit my entire body...I might wait until i drop 5 more lbs and get down to *cough* but like i said in the pic thread i've lost 15 lbs and all my jeans are super loose it's AMAZING It sucks also though because today all i ate was chips and chocolate haha i want to run but family is in town and that fucks everything up

My best friend and i compare ourselves to one another too
she's skinnier than me but she has wide hips but i guess she's jealous that im curvy haha cause i kind of have an hourglass shape I GUESS she says because my waste like dips in IDK but i get so mad because shes way skinnier than me and has amazing legs I want my legs and arms and tummy to be skinnier WHICH i actually think my arms are GOD I HOPE I feel bad because as insecure about my weight as I am...if i see someone bigger than me i instantly put them down in my head or talk to %!+* to my friends about them and i feel bad but i guess again its the media and just sort of a shield or something but i compare myself to EVERY girl i see especially if they are bigger if they are bigger im like OK i hope im not that big and i like watching celeb fit club show and stuff like that to hear how much they weigh haha

Kristina and another girl I know started to talk crap about a very heavy girl at a show last week and they're like "FAST PEOPLE REPULSE ME!" but
they're bother overweight so I'm like "....." and I told them to stop making fun of her because maybe she can't help it.

My main problem is that i dont have a lot of time to exercise, because its not just going to the gym, its changing into gym clothes, going to the gym, and then showering etc after gym and with school, work, sorority, sleeping, eating and friends...sometimes its extremely difficult to fit it in AGREED. I've been going to the gym every day and it literally takes out 2 hours of my life every day. I have tests now so I'm toast. I hate eating with my friends because I'm convinced they eat less than I do and it pisses me off beause I have the appetite of a horse. i'm trying to eat less meat (for environmental reasons), but one big thing is that I can't freaking cook so I definitely don't get enough protein. My friend sebastien did the lemonade "detox" and I laughed at him. Your body doesn't need a "detox", and it is more damaging to your health than not. You actually kill the probiotics in your intestine that break down nutrients into vitamins, when you don't eat for that long. If you're in it to test your self control, by all means, but I hope no one is under then impression that detoxes or "colon cleansers" are healthy. All you need to clear out your intestines is fiber, so you might as well save yourself the trouble and take a metamucil. |

i really want to lost 25lbs. working out is such a hassle though. once i actually start getting paychecks, i'll eat healthier because i'll be able to
afford fresh fruit and vegetables and healthy food items.

Obviously, I would never think of dieting while pregnant, but before I was pregnant I really was never comfortable with "dieting." I think the only
way to have a healthy, permanent change is to change the way you eat and live. Cardio is very valuable, but you can make a difference just by walking somewhere
you would otherwise drive or doing a yoga tape or some Denise Austin (there's just something about this lady that I can actually tolerate) workout for half
hour at your own house.
And, I feel healthiest personally when the majority of what I eat is whole foods, fruits, veg, whole grains. I wouldn't worry about protein if you're cutting back your meat. Most people get far more than they need (even vegetarians). There is plenty in whole grains, legumes and vegetables, as well as fiber and no cholesterol. If you're going to eat meat, do so because you like it not because you think you need it for your health. Gwyneth Paltrow: "I'm superstitious. okay, i'll preface this by saying i know i'm not remotely fat! but i am kind of unhealthy... i have zero muscle tone and terrible eating habits.
i'm trying to stop snacking as much. it's hard because my metabolism is so fast that a lot of times i get hungry almost every hour, but i'm trying
not to let myself eat more than 4 times a day and when i do snack, to have a bowl of cereal or some cheese instead of cookies and chips. and i only have one
cup of coffee and one soda a day and water the rest of the time. i'm trying to eat better meals, especially at dinner, because god knows i am the queen of
frozen pizza. i cook several cups of rice in my rice pot and then use it in meals for the next few days, and i keep a bag of frozen broccoli around so i can
throw it into any dish really quick. i'm looking forward to it being warmer outside, because i LOVE salads and fresh veggies in the summer.
as for exercise, i'm going to start taking my dog out on 2-mile walks in the neighborhood at least three times a week (weather permitting) and try to set aside at least 30 minutes for yoga a few times a week. i used to be a total yoga disciple when i worked only part-time, but now i have gotten quite lazy and tired after work, so it's time to get back into it. i'm also going to start lifting my free weights again to tone my poor wimpy arms. of course, my paris trip will help because we'll be walking our asses off every day, too.

Liz, I'm not an RD, but I don't think you should stop snacking. You just need to find healthy substitutes. Hummus and veggies, nuts (they
are high fat, but it is very healthy fat and will make you more full), fruits, yogurt, etc. I really think people get too hung up on eating a
specific number of times a day instead of just listening to their body. If you're hungry you're body needs more fuel, that's all there is to it.
As long as you're not eating after you've become full it should be fine.

yeah liz I am with you on the fast metabolism.. Like Corrie said snacking is fine as long as it's healthy things. I always have pita and humus, green
pepper, and baby carrots around to snack on cause I really do get hungry like every hour or so. I'm also REALLY picky about food. so I pretty much eat the
same thing everyday cause I like it. bagel with a little butter and pineapples with cottage cheese for breakfast. rice and beans and a spinach salad with
hardboiled eggs for lunch, and pasta with whatever random vegetable I can get my hands on for diner.

oh and insert random cupcakes and these amazing muffins I found that taste like baked applesauce. YUM. and the occasional late night Tortino's pizza rolls

So I bought some running shoes yesterday and my friend was like "did you get the right kind??" and i was like what?!
and then he started going on about how i need to get shoes that are right for my feet and arches because if i get the wrong shoes it'll mess up my stride and i'll start feeling it and have problems. then he told me to go to these running stores and theyll tell me what kind of feet i have and what shoes are best and so on. is this necessary!? I just want to run a few laps around the park once or twice a week.. im not training for a marathon..

Pawn, i think you'll be fine.
My mom has special shoes because she walks marathons. But they are really expensive, and if you aren't running all the time then it probably isn't that necessary. I'm excited for the summer because I always naturally loose weight then But I'm going to have a lot of free time on my hands while I'm in the city, so I'm going to start an exercising routine It kinda sucks though because I might actually have to pay for a gym membership, ive had a free one on campus since august : /

i would like to lose 20-25lbs, just to be healthier, mainly. i'd also love to be in single digit pants sizes. i'm not dedicated enough to go to the gym
3 times a week, or even work out at home. i really need to start eating better/less, thats for sure.
